Mapeamento e caracterização de Gabinetes de mediação de conflitos em escolas do concelho do Porto

A repercussão de eventos violentos, que se manifestam no ambiente escolar, e a
necessidade que emergiu do contexto de aprendizagens em dar resposta educativa a esta
problemática fez com que se afirmassem novas metodologias de intervenção social, como a
mediação de conflitos. Neste contexto têm surgido Gabinetes de Mediação de Conflitos
considerados estruturas de pacificação, que têm contribuído para obter bons resultados na
gestão de conflitos, assim como na melhoria sócio-pessoal e do clima social escolar.
Neste contexto definiu-se como objetivo geral deste estudo: conhecer e compreender a
realidade dos Gabinetes de Mediação de Conflitos existentes nas escolas do concelho do
Porto. Assim, esta investigação foi realizada tendo em conta o território educativo do
concelho do Porto, onde foram identificados quinze agrupamentos de Escolas (AE). Tratase
de um estudo qualitativo porque visa compreender a realidade socioeducativa e orgânica
dos Gabinetes de Mediação de Conflitos, assim como as suas dinâmicas. Para recolha das
informações recorreu-se a dois questionários, sendo que o primeiro, dirigido aos diretores
dos AE, serviu para mapear o território com a finalidade de identificar a exitência destas
estruturas, e o segundo, dirigido aos coordenadores e mediadores, serviu para caracterizar os
Gabinetes de Mediação de Conflitos dos Agrupamentos de Escolas que aceitaram participar
no estudo.
Constatamos com esta pesquisa que os Gabinetes de Mediação de Conflitos, não sendo
idênticos entre os AE, são considerados uma estrutura socioeducativa indispensável para
gestão das situações de conflito, e que, apesar de enfrentarem dificuldades para se
organizarem e permanecerem nos AE, contam com apoio da direção da(s) escola(s), por
serem uma estrutura que realiza boas práticas e obtêm resultados relevantes em termos
sociais e educativos.
The repercussion of violent events, which are manifested in the school environment, and the need that emerged from the context of learning to provide an educational response to this problem led to the affirmation of new methodologies for social intervention, such as conflict mediation. In this context, Conflict Mediation Offices have emerged, considered to be pacification structures, which have contributed to obtain good results in conflict management, as well as in the social-personal improvement and the school social climate. In this context, the general objective of this study was defined: to know and understand the reality of the Conflict Mediation Offices in schools in the municipality of Porto. Thus, this investigation was carried out considering the educational territory of the municipality of Porto, where fifteen groups of Schools (AE) were identified. It is a qualitative study because it aims to understand the socio-educational and organic reality of the Conflict Mediation Offices, as well as their dynamics. To collect the information, two questionnaires were used, the first, addressed to the directors of the EA, served to map the territory in order to identify the existence of these structures, and the second, addressed to the coordinators and mediators, served to characterize the School Group Conflict Mediation Offices that agreed to participate in the study. We verified with this research that the Conflict Mediation Offices, not being identical among the AE, are considered an indispensable socio-educational structure for the management of conflict situations, and that, despite facing difficulties to organize and remain in the AE, they have support the direction of the school (s), as they are a structure that performs good practices and obtain relevant results in social and educational terms.
