Este estudo foi realizado no Estabelecimento Prisional da Polícia Judiciária de Lisboa com uma amostra de 60 reclusos e o objetivo do estudo centra-se essencialmente na averiguação de sintomatologia depressiva nos reclusos que evidenciam baixo Suporte Social. Os instrumentos utilizados foram a Escala Multidimensional de Suporte Social Percebido de Zimet, Dahlem, Zimet & Farley (1988) e Inventário Depressivo de Beck (Beck Depression Inventory, 1961). A relação entre o Suporte Social e a Sintomatologia depressiva não foram significativas. Os sujeitos não evidenciam falta de Suporte Social, no entanto varia conforme a escolaridade, a empregabilidade e a idade. Assim sendo, conclui-se que a Psicologia Forense tem um papel importante e imprescindível no apoio e na reintegração na sociedade relativamente à população reclusa.This study aims to understand the connection that can exist between the lack of social support on the part of primary preventive inmates and Depressive Symptoms. This study was conducted in the Prison of the Judicial Police in Lisbon with a sample of 60 inmates. The objective of the study focuses mainly on the investigation of depression in elderly inmates who show low social support. The instruments used were the Social Support Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Zimet, Dahlem, Zimet& Farley (1988) and Beck Depression Inventory (Beck Depression Inventory, 1961). The relationship between social support and depressive symptomatology were not significant. The subjects did not show lack of social support, however varies according to education, employability and age.
