Por um lado, analisa os saberes sofisticados transmitidos por esse colégio, definidos pelos poderes públicos mas ressignificados pela visão católica e germânica do clero jesuíta. Ele coloca o foco também sobre as habilidades distintivas desenvolvidas entre os estudantes, que concorriam para a produção de um habitus burguês. O artigo apresenta uma perspectiva “sócio-histórica”, sendo apoiado empiricamente em depoimentos de ex-alunos e em abundantes documentos escritos, de modo especial nos relatórios anuais do colégio.This essay aims at understanding the bourgeois school culture present at Ginásio Catarinense, a secondary school, located in the city of Florianópolis (Southern Brazil), directed by German Jesuit priests and attended by male adolescents during the first half of the twentieth century. On one hand, it analyses the sophisticated knowledge that was taught by this school, defined by the government, but reinterpreted by the Catholic and German vision of the Jesuit clergy. It also focuses on the distinctive capabilities developed by the students who competed for the production of a bourgeois habitus.
