Revelar as qualidades religiosas, sociais e geográficas que esconde a ‘América’, que explicam porque tenha se tornado a geratriz da atual diversidade religiosa; e, o que é ainda mais espantoso, qual o nó que atou essa caleidoscópica diversidade e não permitiu sua fragmentação política, como ocorreu em outras partes do mundo? Como resultado, além da natural satisfação de uma curiosidade disciplinar, pode-se também tirar conclusões sobre o comportamento religioso divergente e evitar tragédias decorrentes do comportamento religioso radica.The purpose of this article is to point out the social origins of North American religious diversity in the 19th century, which, in turn, continues to produce consequences for contemporary religious innovation. Reveal the religious, social and geographic qualities that hide 'America', which explain why it has become the generative of the current religious diversity; and, what is even more astonishing, what was the knot that tied this kaleidoscopic diversity and did not allow its political fragmentation, as it happened in other parts of the world?
