Urban and architectural damage may be the living proof of the devastation caused by wars and armed conflicts. In the forefront is the destruction of architecture and urbanization associated with the community, which represents the memory and identity of this society, especially the destruction of heritage architecture, which generally includes different types of buildings depicting the climax of humanitarian activities at different periods of history, and each type of these buildings requires a different approach depending on the importance of the building and its historical value and potential. The research aims to reflect on the reconstruction of historical buildings that have been destroyed by wars and armed conflicts as a symbolic value that must be preserved. It will present theoretical concepts related to post-war reconstruction discussing the possibility of applying them in the old city of Aleppo, by monitoring some of the Arab and Western cases affected by wars, which have been applied to these trends. In synthesis this work is an attempt to prepare a preliminary study for the reconstruction of historic buildings in historic cities, which are currently being destroyed and damaged by the events taking place in the Arab region, in general, and its historic cities, in particular.application/pdfengopenAccessMESTRADO INTEGRADO EM ARQUITETURAARQUITETURAPATRIMÓNIO ARQUITETÓNICOCENTROS HISTÓRICOSRECUPERAÇÃO DE BAIRROS HISTÓRICOSRECONSTRUÇÃO ARQUITETÓNICAPÓS-GUERRARECUPERAÇÃO DE EDIFÍCIOSARCHITECTUREARCHITECTURAL HERITAGEHISTORIC CENTRESHISTORIC NEIGHBORHOOD RESTORATIONARCHITECTURAL RECONSTRUCTIONPOST-WARBUILDING RESTORATIONSÍRIASYRIAReconstruction after conflicts : the study case of AleppomasterThesis202427773
