Para realizá-lo elegemos as categorias teóricas que deram suporte à pesquisa empírica: currículo, ensino de educação física e cultura da escola. Em ensino de educação física trabalhamos a temática da dança. A metodologia foi qualitativa e foram investigadas 2 escolas da rede estadual de Pernambuco, no município de Tuparetama. Os sujeitos foram dois gestores e dois professores das escolas. Os resultados apontam para a ausência ainda de uma visão critica e teórica no ensino de educação física, os conteúdos obrigatoriamente não seguem os PCNs, ficando muito a cargo das preferências dos professores da disciplina. Por conseguinte a dança que vem apontada pelos PCNs como uma prática que trás mudanças atitudinais e socialização, fica comprometida com a possível eleição ou não na unidade curricular.The purpose of this research was to analyze teachers’and managers’ conceptions about dance in the curricular content ofPhysical Educationcourses in the scope of the school culture. In order to accomplish it, I chose theoretical categories able to support my empirical research: curriculum, Physical Education teaching, and school culture. In Physical Education teaching, I worked on the theme of dance. The methodology was qualitative and I selectedtwo schools of Pernambuco state educational network in the municipality of Tuparetama. The individuals of my scope of work were two managers and two teachers. The results found point to the absence of a critical and theoretical view in the teaching of Physical Education. The content do not necessarily follow the PCNs, being in charge of the course teachers' preferences.
