Procederemos ao seu enquadramento histórico e, especialmente, à caracterização dos seus traços arquitectónicos, procurando-se mostrar o contexto da arquitectura renascentista em que se integra e, designadamente, no estilo chão português. Por outro lado, em virtude do estado de deterioração em que o Palácio dos Duques de Aveiro se encontra na actualidade, procura-se enaltecer a necessidade de preservação e de requalificação deste importante património arquitectónico e cultural, através da sugestão de novas valências capazes de gerarem um projecto de reabilitação e de transformação que suscite o interesse turístico com a intenção de que se proteja o monumento e se restitua a sua dignidade e, ao mesmo tempo, possa ser um projecto que valorize a comunidade local onde ele se encontra inserido.This study aims to higlight and stand out of the centrality of the Palace of the Dukes of Aveiro in revitalizing the surrounding area of Vila Nogueira de Azeitão. We will proceed to its historical context, and especially the characterization of its architectural features, seeking to show the context of Renaissance architecture in which it operates and in particular Portuguese plain architecture.
