Este tipo de dor encontra-se associado a lesões de estruturas nervosas, possuindo um conjunto de sintomas e sinais clínicos muito específicos, que motivaram o desenvolvimento e validação de vários instrumentos de rastreio da DN. Um dos instrumentos que se encontra validado para língua e cultura portuguesa, desde 2007 é o questionário DN4 (Dor Neuropática em quatro questões). Deste modo, pretende-se aplicar o uso deste instrumento de rastreio para estudar a Dor Neuropática em algumas unidades de internamento do Hospital do Litoral Alentejano e descrever o tipo de tratamento instituído.The Neuropathic Pain ( DN) when present in the hospitalized patient diminishes their quality of life and motivation to recover their current disease process.
