O nosso breve estudo pretende analisar as incidências anticlericais e, particularmente, antijesuíticas do tema da mulher e da questão da manipulação das consciências àquele associado, no quadro das polémicas em torno da demanda de poder e do exercício de domínio pelo jesuitismo. Exploraremos a simbólica psicológica da ideia da mulher-alter ego do padre e extensão da influência clerical em espaços normalmente inacessíveis à sua presença.Woman’s image as an «easy target» and as a «fragile sex» spread out by the anticlerical propaganda, and particularly by the specific propaganda against the influence of the Society of Jesus, is one of the strong subjects of the process of construction of an ideology against Jesuits that marked the successive decadent and alarming readings of the history of the portuguese and european culture. Our short study intends to analyze the anticlerical incidences and, particularly, the incidences against Jesuits towards woman and the question of the manipulation of the consciences that is associated, in the context of the controversies around the demand of power and of the exercise of domain by the Jesuitism.
