É feita uma breve abordagem histórica à evolução das coberturas nas casas nobres, passando pela tipificação de soluções existentes, como, as patologias existentes e a sua resolução, de modo a conseguir compreender a melhor forma para a intervenção no edifício em estudo. O processo está apoiado numa breve abordagem a dois casos de estudo: a Recuperação do Mosteiro de Tibães, em Braga e do Laboratório Químico, em Coimbra, que, além de serem obras de reabilitação, enquadram-se num programa diferente ao existente. No entanto, apresentam uma preocupação enquanto intervenção pela necessidade de preservar a sua essência.The Master's thesis in Architecture, presented and performed at the Lusófona University of Porto (ULP) is based in the field of built heritage rehabilitation, focusing particularly on the study of pitched roofs, as well as the ceramic coating used – the tile. It is intended to take an historical approach to evolution, through the characterization of existing solutions, such as, pointing out the most frequent pathologies and their resolution, thus being able to understand the best way for the intervention on the building under study. The process is supported by a brief discussion of two case studies: The Recovery of Tibães Monastery in Braga and Chemical Laboratory in Coimbra, which, although being rehabilitation works, fall into a different kind of programme. However, they present a concern as na intervention as wells as the need to preserve its essence.
