A pertinência desta documentação histórica, para o estudo das relações entre o poder político e o poder religioso, e o processo de expansão do cristianismo, a nível global, é apresentada aqui, juntamente com uma sinopse histórica de todo o arquivo – conjunto de documentos este que permanece no imaginário coletivo como um dos mais secretos de todo o mundo.This paper opens the presentation of a major editorial project consacrated to the listing of the Portuguese documentation relative to the Nunciature of Lisbon in the Vatican Archives.
