Neste artigo destacamos o interesse dos governadores da capitania de Mato Grosso pela mão-de-obra indígena e pelos gêneros produzidos em algumas dessas missões, localizadas muito próximas da vila capital, Vila Bela da Santíssima Trindade, na segunda metade do século XVIII. Consideramos que não se pode compreender o contexto colonial fronteiriço luso-espanhol no centro oeste sul americano no Setecentos, sem levar em conta a presença dessas missões.Although so important in the case of the Guaranis, the Spanish missions to the Chiquitos and Moxos have so far been little studied or known about. In this article we draw attention to the interest displayed by the governors of the Mato Grosso port authority for native labour and for the goods produced in some of the missions that were located close to the capital, Vila Bela da Santissima Trindade, during the second half of the 18th century.
