A presente dissertação de mestrado propõe-se analisar o Centro Cultural de Belém à luz deste conceito procurando perceber a forma como, enquanto dispositivo arquitetónico, transmite aos visitantes diferentes sensações através dos percursos desenhados, pela forma como gera comportamentos ou como induz a duração da permanência nos espaços. Propomo-nos, por isso, pensar o uso público do espaço privado a partir de três áreas de uso público existentes no interior do Centro Cultural de Belém. O Caminho José Saramago, a Praça CCB e o Jardim das Oliveiras. No que respeita às questões metodológicas, a análise a este equipamento seguiu dois eixos: um mais teórico, explorando os conceitos dispositivo, heterotopia e espaço público, e outro mais prático, ancorado a preceitos antropológicos, como a observação direta, e que se revelaram úteis na descrição das práticas discursivas e não-discursivas que o edifício instala.Heterotopia is an important concept introduced by Michel Foucault and that has been gaining relevance in architecture and urban design. This dissertation proposes to analyze the Belém Cultural Center in the light of this concept, trying to perceive the way in which, as an architectural device, it transmits to the visitors different sensations through the drawn routes, the way it begets behaviors or how it induces the duration of the permanence in spaces. We propose, therefore, to think about the public use of the private space from three areas of public use within the Centro Cultural de Belém.
