Ainda assim, percebe-se atualmente, diversas manifestações de incômodo, mal-estar e mesmo de hostilidade à alteridade religiosa, em clara negação a essa hibridez identitária. Tal realidade de intolerância que outrora se manifestou muito mais de forma física, nos dias atuais ainda vem se manifestando através de diversas formas de violência simbólica. É exatamente essa nova roupagem da intolerância religiosa que ora tem vitimado a identidade cultural afro-brasileira, mediante discursos que estigmatizam a religiosidade de matriz africana, demonizando-a. Dessa forma, o presente artigo se constitui em um esforço no sentido de enfatizar esse caráter plural que marca as diversas tradições religiosas, especialmente a cristã, se apresentando enquanto alternativa em relação às reivindicações por pureza e verdade universal ora usadas para fundamentar diversas manifestações de intolerância religiosa.Since the origins of Western religion, it already appears as a product of diverse traditions synthesized in syncretism, from shock and multiple encounters between religious discourses. Still, it is perceived today, various forms of discomfort, unease and even hostility to religious otherness, in clear denial of this hybrid identity. This reality of intolerance that once manifested itself more in physical form, today still has manifested itself through various forms of symbolic violence. It is precisely this new guise of religious intolerance which now has victimized the african-Brazilian cultural identity through discourses that stigmatize the religion of African origin, demonizing it.
