Muito pouco foge a este impulso dos novos ventos que levam as sociedades e as particularidades culturais, mesmo aquelas sociedades mais tradicionais, para mudanças radicais. Estas mudanças espelham o progresso e, por isso, o ajustamento à lógica vigente, deixa marcas e levanta tensões que com o passar do tempo se vão esbatendo. Este texto procura retratar os constrangimentos actuais, face aos pressupostos da modernidade, das comunidades rurais em África. Discute-se, neste artigo, a importância da terra e tudo o que a envolve mercê do direito consuetudinário substituído pelo título de propriedade privada.The assumption of the multiple modernities demonstrates a specific vision of the contemporary world along a determined vision of the history and characteristics of modern life. Very little deviates from this impulse of new winds, taking societies and cultural peculiarities, even the most traditional ones, into radical change. These changes mirror the progress and, therefore the adjustment to the existing logic, leaving marks and increasing tensions that will dissipate with time. This text attempts to portrait the present constraints, regarding the presumptions of modernity, of the African rural communities.
