O uso de cosméticos à base de produtos naturais utilizado no cuidado e embelezamento da pele já é conhecido há muito tempo. Mas, nos últimos anos, devido à evidência cada vez maior do impacto ambiental da atividade humana, emergiu uma preocupação maior por parte da sociedade e dos consumidores em ter um estilo de vida mais “amigo do ambiente”. Como tal, tem surgido uma maior procura por produtos cosméticos contendo ingredientes de origem natural, já que o consumidor os associa a uma maior segurança. Contudo, existem alguns relatos de reações adversas a formulações com ingredientes vegetais, e muitas vezes a sua eficácia está pouco documentada. Assim sendo, o objetivo desta dissertação é evidenciar e caracterizar a riqueza e variedade de minerais, da fauna e flora existente em Portugal, bem como o interesse e os riscos da inclusão destas matérias-primas em formulações cosméticas. Fauna, provinda do latim, é um termo coletivo que define a vida animal de uma determinada região ou período de tempo, assim como a flora define um coletivo de plantas. Neste trabalho procurar-se-á diferenciar as diversas formulações existentes no mercado nacional de cosméticos, tanto a nível da sua constituição, mas também a nível da sua função. Como tal, foram selecionadas algumas matérias-primas que têm potencial a nível cutâneo quando incorporadas em formulações cosméticas, como a água termal, azeitona, cortiça, leite de burra, mel e uva, procurando para cada ingrediente estudar os locais onde surgem e quais os possíveis benefícios cutâneos da sua aplicação. Com este trabalho, podemos concluir que as fontes naturais de ingredientes cosméticos são muito diversificadas, benéficas, rentáveis, sustentáveis e seguras para os consumidores.This dissertation aims to deepen the thematic related to the use of certain native raw materials of fauna and flora in Portugal when incorporated in cosmetic products and the benefits that these have for the skin. The use of cosmetics based on natural products used in skin care and beauty has been known for a long time. But in recent years, due to increasing evidence of the environmental impact of human activity, there has been a growing concern on the part of society and consumers to have a more environmentally friendly lifestyle. As such, there has been a greater demand for cosmetic products containing ingredientes of natural origin, since the consumer associates them with greater safety. However, there are some reports of adverse reactions with vegetal ingredients and often their efficacy is poorly documented. Therefore, the objective of this dissertation is to highlight and characterize the richness and variety of minerals, fauna and flora existing in Portugal , as well as the interest and risks of including these raw materials in cosmetic formulations. Fauna, from latin, is a collective term that defines the animal life of particular region or period of time, just as the flora defines a collective of plants. In this work we will try to different the diferente formulations that exist in the national market of cosmetics, both in terms of their function. As such, some materials have been selected that have potential at the cutaneous level when incorporate into cosmetic formulations, such as termal water, olive, cork, donkey’s milk, honey and grape, looking for each ingrediente to study where they appear and what possible skin benefits of your application.
