Diana desempenha aqui o papel de «um começo, de uma entrada, de uma ligação entre os mundos, representa o ponto em que as grandes periferias podem, de pleno direito, e sem sanção violenta, aproximar-se da ostentação, da «pompa e circunstância».The authors who coined the concept of «television ceremony» reflect, in this article, on the commemorations and tributes centring on Diana of Wales, which they consider akin to «pilgrimages, contacts with the divine defined in terms of inaccessibility».
