As análises institucionalistas nas organizações e o conceito de "institucional"

Resumo
A apreensão global desse vasto campo de
estudos que designamos por teorias e análises
institucionalistas revela-se tarefa difícil, senão
mesmo impossível. W. Richard Scott
diagnostica muito bem a situação quando
afirma que “embora haja alguns temas
recorrentes e básicos (…) nas actuais teorias
institucionais das organizações, quando alguém
anuncia que está a desenvolver uma análise
institucional a questão seguinte é: usando que
versão?” (Scott, 1987: 501). Por essa razão,
iremos passar em revista os seguintes pares de
distinções (ou tensões) que operam no campo
institucionalista, o estruturam e lhe dão vigor:
a) organizações e instituições;
b) institucionalismo e neo-institucionalismo;
c) ambientes técnicos e ambientes institucionais das
organizações;
d) micro e macro-institucionalismo;
e) actores individuais e actores colectivos
da institucionalização;
f) instituições e extituições. Em todos estes pares de distinções
acabaremos por nos referir, directa ou
indirectamente, aos aspectos simbólicos das
organizações e dos seus ambientes, o que
corresponde, afinal, aos nossos interesses
actuais de investigação.
The global understanding of this vast field of studies that we define as institutionalist theories and analyses proves to be a difficult task, if not an impossible one. W. Richard Scott scopes the situation very clearly when he says: ”while there are some basic recurring themes (…) among contemporary institutional theories of organizations, when someone announces that he or she is conducting an institutional analysis, the next question should be, Using which version?” (Scott, 1987: 501). That is why, in this paper we just intend to review the following pairs of distinctions (or tensions) that operate, structure and reinforce the instituionalist field: a) organizations and institutions; b)institutionalism and new institutionalism; c)technical and institutional environments of organizations; d) micro and macroinstitutionalism; e) individual and collective actors of institutionalization; f) institutions and extitutions. In each pair of distinctions, the symbolic aspects of the organizations and their environments will be mentioned directly or indirectly. After all, this corresponds to our present reseach concerns.
