Item Le concept de modèle dans l’enseignement de la conception architecturale(Edições Universitárias Lusófonas, 2012) Kadi, Hayet; Escola de Comunicação, Arquitetura, Artes e Tecnologias da InformaçãoAs architectural design cannot be satisfied for its own knowledge, it requires a conceptual work, which can be interpreted as "design concepts", and can only be formulated through a modeling; architecturologic scale is regarded here, as a design operator. This study clarify how can architecturology understand the cognitive mechanisms of the design from graphic expression taken as supports for indicial signs of architectural labor. To respond to the need of combining living and creation spaces, Le Corbusier approached the design of the artist’s house, through the metaphor of tools. By proceeding to a modeling reading, we shall try to bring out a conceptual model that may solve the problem. The purpose is an essential component of a model, since it conditions the way the modeler is going to select the elements of reality, he deems relevant to answer the question on one hand, and build relationships between these elements on the other. To understand the design process leading to the artist's house, we thus suggest analyzing the put problem by means of architecturologic scales. The proposed answer (or program) will be tested on a second building to evaluate its relevance.Item Porcellanato Tile Finishings over Wood Structures in the Giorgio Armani Retail S.R.L. – Avenida da Liberdade 220 - Lisboa(Edições Universitárias Lusófonas, 2012) Santa-Rita, António José de; Escola de Comunicação, Arquitetura, Artes e Tecnologias da InformaçãoThe refurbishments in old buildings in Lisbon means, usually, to know how to deal with wood structure floor boarding's buildings. The architects have almost always the problem of the finishing of these kind of floors with a different material from wood, because of the consequences of the stresses, the contractions and expansions of the wood in which floors are made and the curvature or flexion due to the flexibility of the material wood and also, due to the surcharges – persons as dynamic charges and the static ones, the weight of the furniture, shelves, goods, etc.Item The SURE-Africa Project: Sustainable Urban Renewal – Energy Efficient Buildings for Africa(Edições Universitárias Lusófonas, 2012) Pereira, Italma; Guedes, Manuel Correia; Chenvidyakarn, Torwong; Cantuária, Gustavo; Borges, Klas; Alves, Luís Manuel Monteiro; Aleixo, Joana; Escola de Comunicação, Arquitetura, Artes e Tecnologias da InformaçãoThis paper summarizes the results achieved by the 3-year E.U. SURE-Africa project. The project aims at strengthening knowledge and its application in practice, contributing to a sustainable development through the vital area of energy efficiency in buildings and cities, and, ultimately, to reduce poverty. Academic and professional expertise from three E.U. Universities - namely the Higher Technical Institute (IST, Coord, Portugal), the University of Cambridge (UK) and the University of Lund (Sweden) - was organised to set up a data-base of information, in cooperation with Academic Institutions in Portuguese-speaking African countries (Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde and Guinea), with information about tools, case studies and teaching material in the field of sustainable, energy-efficient building and urban design. Seminars, workshops and conferences were carried out, and best-practice Manuals are also being published as a final outcome of the project.
