extraordinário e do socialmente pertinente
inserindo-a numa perspectiva religiosa e moral
das sociedades. Trata-se, então, de inverter o
privilégio da análise: concentrarmo-nos, não
no ajuste público do acontecimento mas na
própria configuração eventiva da publicidade.
The production of the socially remarkable – the event – implies a central collective dimension. The event is always an extraordinary social occurrence gaining, therefore, a public shape. And society is staged in public events – in the double sense of shared occurrences and occurrences that demand more publicity. There is, thus, a close association between society’s eventful outline and publicness, between the happening and make it happen of society. The event is a work in progress, always unfinished because always unrepeatable, some sort of singular event that has become a rule and that society has to constantly publicly rehabilitate. From this point-of-view, the event is a ritual, a practice society holds in order to organize its experience. In this paper we assess the relation between publicness and event through a religious and moral perspective. We will invert the analysis’ axis: we will focus, not in the public quality of events but in the very (and literally) eventful character of publicness.
