Abstract

Portugal e Espanha juntaram-se à União Europeia em 1986. Na altura, alguns cientistas julgaram que seria um processo votado ao insucesso. No entanto, o percurso foi um sucesso. Espanha tornou-se um dos países mais desenvolvidos da União. Portugal, apesar de longe das expectativas iniciais, também recuperou significativamente. Apesar dos contornos diversificados, ambos podem ser considerados um modelo de integração.Portugal and Spain joined the European Union in 1986.
