Item Também são meus irmãos(Edições Universitárias Lusófonas, 2005) Andrade, Maria Raquel Limão de; Faculdade de Ciências Sociais, Educação e AdministraçãoAristides de Sousa Mendes, the Portuguese Consul in Bordeaux proved to be in 1940 an apostle of globalization in a good meaning of that reality, anticipating by some decades the needs that we are feeling today. He did so to the extent in which he made it possible for a very sizable number of people to ensure their right for life, personal dignity, brotherhood, liberty and equality, by going against the prevailing State criteria for determining equality and justice. Aristides globalized the public service, solidarity, and the universal and perennial values which dignifiy humanity and its spiritual heritage. In the long run his deeds will remain linked with the events that were unique.
