Resumo
A presente dissertação apresenta uma investigação sobre a zona ribeirinha da
cidade de Lisboa, e a sua relação com o rio Tejo. A história de Lisboa é marcada pelo rio
Tejo, principal protagonista, que influencia a evolução da cidade desde os tempos
romanos, até aos dias de hoje.
A investigação cobre o período pré industrial, industrial e a pós-industrial onde
surgem vazios e espaços disponíveis que tem vindo ser reconfigurados em espaço público
de carácter informal, ligações pedonais entre a cidade e a frente ribeirinha.
A organização do material investigado viabiliza uma leitura e releitura da história da
cidade construindo uma reflexão, que tem a finalidade, de sustentar a proposta de projecto
que é apresentada no final deste trabalho. Identificamos um lugar prioritário que
designaremos de área de intervenção no aterro da Boavista, junto ao IADE Creative
University onde o projecto pretende resolver este vazio urbano devolvendo o rio à cidade.
O projecto desenvolvido, propõe a criação de espaços públicos abertos, que fazem
a ligação entre a cidade e a frente ribeirinha. A barreira física constituída pela Av. 24 de
Julho e linha do comboio, é diluída através de um “edifício ponte”, onde o espaço público
situa-se na sua cobertura. Sobre esta passagem, desenha-se um espaço público de
carácter informal, passível de ser usado como lugar de encontro ou permanência, mas
também como cenário para diferentes tipos de eventos.
The present dissertation features an investigation about the Lisbon city`s water front, and the city´s relation with the Tagus river. The history of Lisbon is defined by the Tagus river, the main protagonist that influences the evolution of the city from the Romans to this day. This investigation covers the pre-industrial, industrial and post-industrial era when voids appear and free spaces are reconfigured in an informal public space, the pedestrian connection between the city and its waterfront. The organization of the material under study enables a reading and rereading of the history of the city, making a reflection with the goal of sustaining the design proposal presented at the end of this work. We identify a priority place, which we designate the intervention area, in the landfill of Boavista, next to IADE Creative University. The project pretends to solve the urban void and to return the river to the city. The developed project proposes the creation of open, public spaces that make the connection between the city and the waterfront. A physical barrier built by the Avenida 24 de Julho and the train line, is dissolved by a “bridge building”, whose roof becomes the public space. Over this passage, an informal public space is designed that can be used as a place of meeting and permanence, but also for a different kind of events.
