Resumo
Esta Dissertação tem por objetivo investigar o tratamento que a imprensa escrita portuguesa deu à morte do general Sanjurjo, à época do acontecimento, com vista a saber se deixou ela de noticiá-la, tendo em conta que operava então, sob censura prévia. Ou melhor: se esteve preocupada em omitir e, inclusive, deturpar informações que estivessem em desalinho com o regime português. Com isso pretende-se traçar uma radiografia da linha editorial dos jornais daquele período em relação ao salazarismo. Este trabalho também tem por escopo lançar luz sobre o oficial espanhol, trazendo-o novamente para o centro das atenções, conquanto, desta vez, acadêmicas na sua maioria, já que ele permanece, contraditoriamente, uma figura histórica desconhecida, até mesmo em Portugal. Perifericamente, analisa-se, igualmente, a configuração mediática do «corpus» em questão à luz da teoria dos «Media events», visto que as dissertações de mestrado devem não só trazer informações científicas originais como também constituir um exercício acadêmico. Para ambas as análises, a abordagem adotada é a que trata das modalidades da construção jornalística, ou seja, que estuda as condições de produção do discurso, ao passo que a metodologia, a da Análise Crítica do Discurso.
This dissertation has as aim to investigate the treatment of the Portuguese written press of the time relative to the general Sanjurjo’s death. It’s purpose? Knowing whether the local press, seeing it used to operate under the pressure from the censorship, didn’t deliver news about the occurrence. Or rather: whether it was concerned in omitting and, including, distorting information that was out of synch with the Portuguese system. Therewith, it’s expected to chart a radiography of the newspapers’ editorial line of that time towards the Salazar’s regime. This work also has as objective to spotlight the Spanish officer, putting him again at the center of attention, although, this time, academics in the majority, as he stays, in a contradictory way, an unknown historical figure, even in Portugal. Incidentally, the media configuration of newspapers at issue is also analyzed, taking into account now the Media Events Theory, considering the Master Degree’s dissertations should not only bring original scientific information but also constitute an academic exercise. For both analyses, the approach adopted is the one that investigates the modalities of the journalistic constructions, namely the one that studies the conditionals of the lecture production, whereas the methodology, the Critical Analysis of the Speech.
