Potenciais evocados relacionados a eventos (ERP-P300) na avaliação do benefício do implante coclear em hipoacúsias neurosensoriais unilaterais

Abstract

O P300 reflete a habilidade cognitiva dos indivíduos na deteçao e resposta a um estímulo. Nos últimos anos, este método tem vindo a destacar-se na investigação dos benefícios do uso do Implante Coclear (IC) que consiste numa prótese neuronal para reabilitação de surdez neurossensorial. O presente trabalho tem como principal objetivo avaliar o benefício do IC, na capacidade cognitiva de discriminação de estímulos verbais no ruído, em indivíduos com hipoacusia neurossensorial unilateral (HNU), através do P300. É um estudo de natureza descritiva exploratória de coorte transversal, constituído por uma amostra de 4 indivíduos, 2 com HNU portadores de IC e um grupo de controlo constituído por 2 normo-ouvintes. Foram aplicadas as tarefas Digit Span e a Decisão Lexical para avaliar a memória e atenção, respetivamente. Por forma realizar uma avaliação cognitiva dos indivíduos aplicou-se a Bateria de Avaliação Frontal (FAB) e a Avaliação Cognitiva de Montreal (MoCA). Perante uma análise dos resultados pode-se verificar o benefício do IC através de um aumento das amplitudes do P300 que se evidenciam com o uso deste comparativamente aos resultados na condição sem implante coclear.

P300 reflects individual’s cognitive ability to detect and respond to a stimuli. In recent years, this method has been emphasized in the investigation of the benefits of using the Cochlear Implant (CI) wich consists of a neural prosthesis for the rehabilitation of sensorineural hearing loss. The present study has as main objective the evaluation of the benefit of CI, in the cognitive capacity of discrimination of verbal stimuli in noise, in individuals with sensorioneural single sided deafnesss (SSD) through P300. It is a descriptive exploratory cross-sectional study consisting of a sample of 2 individual’s sensorioneural SSD with CI and a normo-hearing control group. The Digit Span and the Lexical Decision tasks were applied to evaluate memory and attention, respectively. In order to perform a cognitive evaluation of the individuals, the Frontal Assessment Battery (FAB) and the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) were applied. In the analysis of the result, the benefit of the CI can be verified through an increase in the amplitudes of the P300 that evidenced with use the CI compared to the results without cochlear implant condition.
