A educação alimentar no Ensino Básico Português: o caso da Escola Secundária/3 Rainha Santa Isabel, de Estremoz

Resumo
Analisou-se a realidade da Escola Secundária/3 Rainha Santa Isabel de Estremoz no respeitante à Educação Alimentar. Os conteúdos programáticos dos manuais adotados no 9.º ano de escolaridade foram confrontados com a legislação e, com destaque para a área curricular de Ciências Físico-Naturais, verificou-se cumprirem as orientações curriculares. Os conhecimentos teóricos dos alunos sobre alimentação foram avaliados e revelaram-se sólidos, a julgar pelos resultados dos questionários aplicados. Foi no domínio da prática da oferta alimentar facultada nos espaços de alimentação coletiva desta escola - refeitório, bufete e, particularmente, máquinas de venda automática - que se identificaram algumas insuficiências que não induzem a melhoria dos comportamentos alimentares dos alunos. Deste modo, apresentam-se no presente trabalho propostas de alteração de algumas dessas práticas, que possam reduzir a prevalência do excesso de peso e doenças crónicas associadas, entre os alunos desta escola, contribuindo para que a mesma possa vir a ser um espaço de excelência na promoção da Educação Alimentar.
The reality of Basic and Secondary School Rainha Santa Isabel, in Estremoz, concerning the Food Education, was analyzed. The syllabus of the textbooks adopted in the 9th grade was confronted with the law and meets the curriculum guidelines, especially in the curricular area of Physics and Natural Sciences. The students' theoretical knowledge about diet was evaluated and was proved to be solid, judging by the results of the applied questionnaires. However, as regards food consumption, the facilities available to students at the school (the canteen, the buffet and in particular the vending machine) fall below the required standard, which does not encourage them to improve their eating habits.Thus, this work present some proposals to amend some of these practices, which may reduce the prevalence of overweight and related chronic diseases among pupils of this school, contributing to excellence in the promotion of Nutrition Education.
