Ruína sensorial : a bateria militar como pórtico de memória para o projeto arquitetónico

Abstract

O enfoque da dissertação centra-se na margem sul onde o Rio Tejo termina e inicia o Oceano Atlântico, mais concretamente na Trafaria. A sua proximidade à capital e a crescente procura dos seus arredores como destino turístico. A dissertação tem como propósito o estudo sobre a Bateria Militar como Pórtico de Memória para o Projeto Arquitetónico. Pretende-se, também, refletir a arquitetura em estado de ruína como experiência sensorial, tendo como enquadramento a 5ª artilharia do Campo de Entrincheiramento da Costa. Contudo, apesar deste interesse, a escolha deste tema especialmente por ser uma bateria militar, permitirá conhecer este tipo de fortificações que se encontram abandonadas há imensos anos, muitas delas sem uma possível oportunidade de uso. Como tiveram uma grande importância na nossa defesa e tiveram um marco na nossa história, devemos dar-lhes uma oportunidade. Pretende-se, também, entender o papel que as preexistências têm na obra do arquiteto e de como os assume nos projetos. Procura-se perceber como a arquitetura de hoje pode segurar o seu lugar, quando opera sobre espaços preexistentes com sentidos e simbolismos. Esta dissertação leva-nos a refletir: pode o começo do projeto, sendo esta uma hipótese para escolher a condição da mesma como princípio projetual? A Bateria Militar em ruína é enquanto elemento do projeto, o alvo a compreender. Procura-se a relação da arquitetura com o lugar e a Natureza, propondo um espaço hoteleiro de forma a proporcionar áreas de lazer, contemplação da paisagem e da Bateria da Raposeira.

The focus of the dissertation is on the south bank where the Tagus River ends and the Atlantic Ocean begins, more specifically in Trafaria. Its proximity to the capital and the growing demand for its surroundings as a tourist destination. The dissertation aims to study the Military Battery as a Portico of Memory for the Architectural Project. It is also intended to reflect architecture in a state of disrepair as a sensory experience, with the 5th artillery in the Entrincheiramento da Costa field as a framework. However, despite this interest, the choice of this theme, especially because it is a military battery, will allow to know this type of fortifications which has been abandoned for many years, many of them without an opportunity of use. As they were of great importance in our defense and marked our history, we must return this protection to them. It is also intended to understand the role that preexistences play in the architect's work and how he assumes them in the projects. It seeks to understand how the architecture of today can hold its place when it operates on pre-existing spaces full of meanings and symbolisms. This dissertation leads us to reflect: can the beginning of the project, this being a hypothesis to choose its condition as a design principle? The Ruined Military Battery is, as an element of the project, the target to be understood. The relationship between architecture and place and Nature is sought, proposing a hotel space in order to provide leisure areas, contemplation of the landscape and of the Raposeira Battery.
