Perturbação Pós-Stress Traumático, para a avaliação da Perturbação de Stress Póstraumático;
With this study we sought to determine possible associations between domains of personality and self-efficacy expectations in the development of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder in firefighters, with the intend of identifying individual predictive characteristic of vulnerability to Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. The measures used in this study were the: Questionnaire for Assessment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, to assess Disorder Post Traumatic Stress, the Personality Inventory - NEOFFI for personality assessment and self-efficacy Assessment Scale General As-am I, for the assessment the self-efficacy expectations. The sample was composed by 168 volunteer and professional firefighters from different corporations of the western region. There were 136 male participants and 32 female, aged between the ages of 17 and 66 years old. The results showed statistically significant associations between the different domains of personality, namely neuroticism and kindness, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. There were significant and positive correlations between neuroticism and kindness in relation to PTSD. In this study it was also found that there is a negative correlation between the variable PTSD and expectations of self-efficacy. Statistically significant negative correlations were also found in the three subscales of the scale of self-efficacy expectancies applied in the study, with them effectively to adversity, initiation and persistence and social effectiveness.
