Resumo
Mais de 40 anos após a Revolução de 25 de Abril de 1974, urge olhar para esse
momento e compreender as dinâmicas que então se criaram e levaram a que
não tivesse lugar uma significativa tensão entre os governos resultantes desse
movimento revolucionário e a Igreja Católica.
Especificamente, neste texto analisamos alguns textos do então Cardeal Patriarca
de Lisboa, António Ribeiro, percebendo como a estrutura central da Igreja
Católica preparava o convívio com as questões sociais levantadas pela revolução.
De facto, António Ribeiro, antes da revolução, levantava já algumas das
questões que posteriormente seriam centrais no movimento revolucionário, tal
como entre em significativa consonância com o movimento revolucionário em
algumas das suas homilias e cartas imediatamente a seguir à revolução.
More than 40 years after the Revolution of April 25, it is urgent to look at this moment and try to understand the dynamics of the moment and why there was no significant tension between the governments resulting from this revolutionary movement and the Catholic Church. Specifically, in this text we analyze some texts of the Cardinal Patriarch of Lisbon, António Ribeiro, perceiving how the central structure of the Catholic Church prepared the social interaction with the social issues raised by the revolution. In fact, prior to the revolution, Antonio Ribeiro already raised some of the issues that would later be central to the revolutionary movement, as well as being in consonance with the revolutionary movement in some of his homilies and letters immediately after the revolution.
