Da crítica à sociologia da religião : uma viragem e seu impacto sócio-cultural

Resumo
A sociologia da religião é ainda uma disciplina relativamente jovem dentro da realidade académica. Tendo em conta as dificuldades recentes em reagir aos movimentos na paisagem religiosa actual pode parecer que este ramo da sociologia já se encontra numa crise profunda. Uma possibilidade de redefinir o lugar da sociologia da religião encontra-se também na reflexão sobre as origens desta disciplina científica que nasceu dentro do seio da crítica da religião. E esta remonta curiosamente das primeiras perguntas inocentes sobre a origem do mundo fora de uma explicação divina. O artigo presente pretende redesenhar em traços gerais o desenvolvimento da crítica da religião a partir dos filósofos pré-socraticos até os escritos de Feuerbach e chama depois brevemente atenção para Karl Marx, Friedrich Nietzsche e Sigmund Freud cujos criticas da religião tiveram um impacto enorme para a futura sociologia da religião.
The sociology of religion is still a relative newcomer as an academic discipline. Bearing in mind the recent difficulties in reacting to movements within the current religious landscape, it may seem that this branch of sociology is already in deep crisis. One way to redefine the role of sociology of religion can also be found in a reflection on the origins of this scientific discipline which arose in the heart of religious criticism. Curiously, this criticism dates back to the first innocent questions about the origin of the world, independently of a divine explanation. The present paper aims to redesign, in general terms, the development of criticism of sociology of religion from pre-Socratic philosophers up to the work of Feuerbach, passing briefly through Karl Marx, Friedrich Nietzsche and Sigmund Freud, whose critiques had an enormous impact on the future sociology of religion.
