The present study aimed to explore the relationship between difficulty in emotion regulation, binge eating and commitment to valued action, and the moderating effect of self compassionate qualities on the weakening of these relationships in the general population. The study sample consists of 170 participants who completed an online questionnaire. Correlations between the study variables were verified and the results revealed that self-compassion plays a moderating role in the relationship between emotional dysregulation and commitment to valued action, but does not moderate the relationship between commitment to valued action and binge eating. The results suggest that promoting self-compassionate exercises is effective in therapeutic interventions with subjects who have difficulty regulating their emotions. Keywords: Emotion dysregulation, Commitment to valued action, Binge eating, Self compassion, undermining, moderating role, general-population, exploratory
