dc.description.abstractNalguns sectores mais conservadores do cristianismo desde os finais do século XIX tem sido empreendida uma autêntica batalha pela defesa da autoridade da Bíblia. A doutrina da total inerrância e infalibilidade das sagradas Escrituras foi primeiramente uma resposta ao liberalismo, que surge em pleno iluminismo e, posteriormente, na pós-modernidade, decorrente das ideias existencialistas e desconstrucionistas com que alguns filósofos franceses irão influenciar os métodos hermenêuticos. Em causa tem estado uma cosmovisão assente na suprema autoridade bíblica em matéria de fé e conduta, que se opõe a uma secularização progressiva. A sexualidade antes do casamento, o aborto, o casamento homossexual, a ideologia do género, a eutanásia, o sacerdócio feminino e até a inclusão de homossexuais no seio da igreja, têm tido forte oposição por parte dos que persistem na doutrina da inerrância e no biblicismo.pt
dc.description.abstractIn some of the more conservative sectors of Christianity since the late 19th century, an authentic battle has been fought to defend the authority of the Bible. The doctrine of the total inerrancy and infallibility of the Holy Scriptures was first a response to liberalism, which emerges during the Enlightenment period and, later, in postmodernity, due to the existentialist and deconstructionist ideas with which some French philosophers would influence hermeneutical methods. At stake it has been a worldview based on the supreme biblical authority in matters of faith and conduct, which is opposed to progressive secularization. Sex before marriage, abortion, same-sex marriage, gender ideology, euthanasia, the female priesthood and even the inclusion of homosexuals within the church, have been strongly opposed by those who persist in the doctrine of inerrancy and the biblicism.en
