Abstract

O Serviço Social, intrinsecamente ligado às teorias e práticas profissionais, exige uma compreensão aprofundada da base teórica subjacente à sua operacionalização. As mudanças sociais incentivam à produção de conhecimento epistemológico que se adapte às novas tendências e paradigmas de intervenção centrados na pessoa e contexto. A procura pela teoria fundamenta a prática baseada em evidências, considerando diversas dimensões sociais. Além da intervenção prática, a dimensão instrumental da profissão incorpora o conhecimento teórico para ajustar metodologias e interpretar a realidade social.

Social Work, intrinsically linked to professional theories and practices, requires an in-depth understanding of the theoretical basis underlying its operationalization. Social changes encourage the production of epistemological knowledge that adapts to new trends and paradigms of intervention centred on the person and context. The search for theory underpins evidence-based practice, considering several socialdimensions. In addition to practical intervention, the profession's instrumental dimension incorporates theoretical knowledge to adjust methodologies and interpret social reality. The construction of this text is supported by a literature review based onauthors who are national and international references for an in-depth study of the topic covered.
