dc.description.abstractTendo em conta a realidade industrial e urbana que se vive em Sines, percebe-se a necessidade de estabelecer um ritmo de crescimento equilibrado entre a indústria e o núcleo urbano, com a certeza que a nível industrial e económico Sines caminha para se assumir cada vez mais como ponto estratégico fundamental nas redes de transportes em toda a Europa e no mundo. As grandes indústrias sempre foram elementos fomentadores do crescimento das cidades. Sines não fugiu esta regra, mas é esta também a grande razão do afastamento entre núcleo urbano e a sua frente de água, com isto surgindo muitas carências na qualidade de vida de Sines, resultantes das barreiras impostas pelo desenvolvimento desequilibrado e acabando por reforçar a barreira natural que é a diferença de cotas. Esta investigação tem como objetivo perceber de que forma podemos impulsionar o desenvolvimento de Sines gerando soluções que ao mesmo tempo resolvem algumas carências da vida urbana e respondem às questões relativas ao desenvolvimento industrial, com soluções que sejam capazes de “quebrar” as barreiras que fazem de Sines uma cidade de costas voltadas para a sua frente de água. Para tal fez-se uma pesquisa para perceber como funcionam as redes de comunicação de Sines, assim como o transporte rodoviário, ferroviário e marítimo, sendo possível perceber a velocidade de crescimento das indústrias e importância da logística neste território. Todas estas dinâmicas e carências impostas pela indústria formam um conjunto de potencialidades a serem exploradas no território, alguns fatores apontando como possível o desenvolvimento de Sines de forma sustentada, não só no presente como no futuro, de modo a que se possa consolidar a malha urbana.pt
dc.description.abstractTaking into consideration the industrial and urban reality that of Sines, one realizes the need to establish a balanced growth between industry and the urban core, making sure that the industrial and economic level of Sines tends to increasingly assume a strategic place in the transport networks across Europe and the world. The implementation of large industries has always been relevant for the growth of cities. Sines was not an exception, but this is also the main reason for the gap between the urban center and the waterfront, resulting in the loss of life quality, as a consequence of the barriers imposed by an unbalanced development, enhancing the natural barrier that is imposed by the difference between the higher and the lower levels. This investigation aims to understand how we can boost the development of Sines by generating solutions that will solve some needs of urban living and, at the same time, will respond to issues relating to the industrial development; solutions that can "break" the barriers that make Sines a city with its back turned to the waterfront. A research was made to figure out how the Sines communication networks function, as well as the road, rail and maritime transport. The speed of growth of industries and importance of logistics in this territory became clear, all these dynamics and needs being imposed by the industry as a set of potentialities to be explored in this territory. It is possible to identify some relevant factors for the possible development of Sines in a sustainable, manner not only in the present but also in the future, in order to consolidate the urban fabric.en
