Abstract
«Anyone finding himself on the psychoa nalyst’s couch lies alongside a crocodile and a mouse.» Inspiring herself in this quote, the writer reflects, in this short essay, on television’s influence in contemporary society. Despite acknowledging the impossibility of resisting the force of the TV screen, which has become almost indispensable to everyday life, she traces the limits of a medium that “deceives not, but only illudes” the spectator.»
