dc.description.abstractAo longo dos anos tem-se constatado um aumento do envelhecimento populacional na maioria dos países. Neste sentido, verifica-se um desequilíbrio demográfico causado pelo aumento da esperança média de vida e pela diminuição da natalidade e da mortalidade. Assinala-se ainda alterações no que concerne às representações sociais sobre os idosos e respetivas dinâmicas familiares, contribuindo negativamente para a problemática da violência doméstica na referida população. O fenómeno de mau trato encontra-se associado ao envelhecimento. Atualmente, os idosos são uma população suscetível e vulnerável a situações de violência, para combater e prevenir estas situações é importante conhecer a realidade do idoso, na sua condição psicológica, física, social e económica. Existe então a necessidade de reforçar a política especifica sobre os idosos, criando mais medidas para a promoção e inclusão deste segmento. (APAV, 2010; Oliveira, 2005; Poiares, 2012; Paúl & Fonseca, 2005). Esta dissertação tem então como principal objetivo definir um conjunto de medidas que possam consubstanciar a prevenção da violência doméstica contra idosos, com o intuito de prevenir e atenuar comportamentos violentos contra os mais velhos. dc.description.abstractOver the years there has been observed an increase in the aging population in most countries. In this sense, there is a demographic imbalance caused by increasing life expectancy and the falling birth rate and mortality. It is also notes changes in relation to the social representations on the elderly and respective family dynamics, negatively contributing to the problem of domestic violence in that population. The phenomenon of maltreatment is associated with aging. Currently, seniors are a susceptible and vulnerable to violence, to combat and prevent these situations it is important to know the reality of the elderly in their psychological condition, physical, social and economic. then there is the need to strengthen the specific policy on older people, creating more measures for the promotion and inclusion of this segment (APAV, 2010; Oliveira, 2005; Poiares, 2012; Paúl & Fonseca, 2005). This thesis is then the main objective of defining a set of measures that can substantiate the prevention of domestic violence against the elderly, in order to prevent and mitigate violent behavior against the older.
