O início da História do município de Itarema está ligado aos índios Tremembé e a colonização portuguesa, tendo também alguma influência da atuação da escravidão negra em
determinada região do município.O tema enfocado nesse Artigo é a educação no município de Itarema, considerando desde a atuação dos Jesuítas até as instituições oficiais,
tendo como referência a atual EMEF Marieta Rios Em 12 de setembro de 1949, por ato estadual, foi criada e instalada a primeira escola pública no distrito de Itarema, pelo
governador do Ceará Faustino de Albuquerque, estando presente ao ato inaugural o Sr. Prefeito de Acaraú Manoel Duca da Silveira, com a denominação de Escolas Reunidas de
Itarema, depois Escola de 1º grau de Itarema. Em 1979 a escola foi reformada pelo Orzete Filomeno Gomes, a mando do governador da época Virgílio Távora. Em 1983
denominou-se Escola Estadual de 1o grau Marieta Rios e logo depois Escola Estadual de Ensino Fundamental Marieta Rios. Em 1998 passou a mão da prefeitura municipal de
Itarema e foi mais uma vez mudado seu nome para Escola Municipal de Ensino Fundamental Marieta Rios. Em 2001 foi ampliada pelo prefeito José Stênio Rios.
Atualmente existem projetos de uma transformação muito grande em sua estrutura já muito danificada.
The early history of the city is linked to Itarema Tremembé Indians and Portuguese colonization, also having some influence on the performance of black slavery in certain region of the city. The theme investigated in this article is education in the municipality of Itarema, from considering the action of Jesuits to official institutions, with reference to the Current River in MARIETA EMEF September 12, 1949, by state act was designed and installed the first public school in the district of Itarema, governor of Ceará Faustino de Albuquerque, was present to act Inaugural Mr. Mayor Acaraú Manoel da Silveira Duca, under the name of Itarema Schools Reunited after the first school musical Itarema. In 1979 the school was refurbished by Orzete Filomeno Gomes, at the behest of the governor at the time Virgilio Tavora. In 1983 was named State School first grade and soon after Marieta Rios State School Rivers Elementary School Marieta. In 1998 he passed his hand Itarema city hall and was once again changed its name to the Municipal School of Rivers Elementary School Marietta. In 2001 it was extended by Mayor Jose Rios Stênio. Currently there are projects to a very big transformation in its structure already badly damaged.
