dc.description.abstractO objetivo desta dissertação é estudar o benefício da Systemic Lisbon Battery (SLB) num plano de intervenção estruturado com recurso à Realidade Virtual, com enfoque na reabilitação das funções cognitivas que mais frequentemente se encontram comprometidas na patologia neurológica. Os objetivos específicos são verificar se existem diferenças nas funções executivas, na atenção e memória entre a avaliação inicial e final que é realizada no protocolo de intervenção numa amostra de utentes com lesão cerebral adquirida do Centro de Medicina de Reabilitação de Alcoitão (CMRA). A amostra clínica é constituída por 11 utentes, 9 dos quais sofreram de acidente vascular cerebral e dois de traumatismo crânio encefálico, com idades compreendidas entre os 25 e os 74 anos. Foram utlizadas as provas neuropsicológicas MoCA, FAB, EMW e CTT para realizar a avaliação antes e após as sessões de reabilitação cognitiva com provas da SLB. Os resultados não permitiram detetar diferenças significativas entre os dois momentos de avaliação, embora com recurso a uma análise individual pelos índices de mudança confiável se tenha observado melhores resultados nos domínios neuropsicológicos após a intervenção. Contudo, ainda que não se tenham verificado melhorias, a SLB permitiu a conservação das capacidades cognitivas e funcionais dos indivíduos durante o tempo de realização deste estudo.pt
dc.description.abstractThe focus of this work is to study the benefit of using the Systemic Lisbon Battery (SLB), a Virtual Reality Platform, in a structured intervention plan, with a focus on the rehabilitation of the cognitive functions that are most often involved in neurological pathology. This dissertation aims to verify if there are differences in the executive function, attention span, and memory of the inpatient between the initial and final evaluation performed in the intervention protocol from a clinical sample. The clinical sample consists of eleven inpatients from CMRA with Acquired Brain Injury aged between 25 and 74 years old. Nine of whom suffered from a stroke and two from traumatic brain injury. This work leverages the neuropsychological tests MoCA, FAB, EMW, and CTT to perform the assessment before and after the cognitive stimulation sessions. An evaluation of the hereby-presented work did not allow the detection of significant differences between the two assessment moments. Although, with an individual analysis by the reliable change indices better results were observed in the neuropsychological domains after the intervention. No significant improvements were verified in the inpatients condition. However, throughout the whole experiment, SLB allowed for the preservation of the inpatient’s cognitive abilities.en
