The consumption of psychoactive substances has been characterized as a cultural behavior in Portuguese society. With the evolution of society, this behavior has changed in some population groups, but also the type of beverage consumed. Groups such as adolescents and women are characterized, in the present, like vulnerable groups when they consumed such substances. Adolescence is a fundamental phase in life’s development, not only because it’s in these phase, where a person will suffer physical changes, but also psychological ones. This phase of life is usually divided by stages, which one is characterized by some sort of development. It is in the adolescence that the firsts experimentations of psychoactive substances legal or illegal, such as alcohol and tobacco occur. The consequences of excessive absorption of these types of substances are something to concern with, because of the many consequences which result from this behavior. For the consumer, for the family and also for the society. This study sought to comprehend the perception of university students, which at some time of their life’s had excessive absorption of alcohol, about their own consumption and their perception about the consumption of Portuguese society. The study sought to establish the ideas of the students about the consequences which result from this sort of behavior. We also wanted to understand the work from Social Workers in this theme. So, we based this study in a qualitative approach, and followed an inductive and abductive strategy. The data was collected by semi-structured interviews, applied to twelve students and one Social Worker. From the data analyses and interpretation we can concluded that there is ripeness in these type of behavior on these students. This situation happens because, in the present, they usually consume for the socialization with their peers and because they also enjoy the drinks they chose to drink. And not for the fact to became inebriate, reason given by past consumptions.
