O impacto da violência bidirecional na satisfação com a relação íntima

dc.description.abstractAs relações de intimidade são, de acordo com literatura mais recente, pautadas pela existência de violência bidirecional, perpetrada e sofrida por ambas as partes. Esta violência, que pode ser psicológica, física, sexual ou stalking, têm um efeito nefasto. Um dos fatores de risco apontado para a violência bidirecional é a satisfação com a relação íntima, um fenómeno multidimensional, caraterizado pela perceção que os cônjuges têm da relação, numa avaliação de custo-benefício. Este estudo teve como objetivo perceber o impacto da violência bidirecional na satisfação com a relação íntima, numa amostra da comunidade. Os 767 participantes responderam, online, a um questionário sócio demográfico, à escala de conflitos CTS-2R e a um inventário de satisfação conjugal (Kansas Marital Satisfaction Scale). A violência bidirecional foi o formato de violência mais relatado no último ano, com 50,4%, no entanto, contrariamente ao esperado, este valor não teve impacto na satisfação com a relação íntima. Homens e mulheresrevelaram se satisfeitos, sem diferenças significativas entre si. A tipologia violência psicológica foi prevalente (43%), contudo, não afetou a satisfação. A prática de estratégias de negociação, similarmente aos resultados anteriores, não demonstrou influenciar positivamente a satisfação. O facto de, a violência bidirecional ser prevalente, implica a necessidade de conhecer melhor este formato de violência, bem como, a falta de repercussões na satisfação com a relação íntima, apesar da elevada presença de violência, torna premente perceber o que parece afigurar-se como uma naturalização da violência nas relações íntimas. dc.description.abstractIntimate relationships are, according to more recent literature, guided by the existence of bidirectional violence, perpetrated and suffered by both parts. This violence, which can be psychological, physical, sexual or stalking, has an harmful effect. One of the risk factors pointed out for bidirectional violence is satisfaction with the intimate relationship, a multidimensional phenomenon, characterized by the perception that the spouses have of the relationship in a cost-benefit assessment. This study aimed to understand the impact of bidirectional violence on satisfaction with the intimate relationship, in a sample of the community. The 767 participants answered, online, to a sociodemographic questionnaire, to CTS-2R conflict scale and to a marital satisfaction inventory (Kansas Marital Satisfaction Scale). Bidirectional violence was the most reported form of violence in the last year, with 50.4%, however, contrary to expectations, this value had no impact on satisfaction with the intimate relationship. Men and women were satisfied, with no significant differences between them. The psychological violence typology was prevalent (43%), however, it did not affect satisfaction. The practice of negotiation strategies, similarly to the previous results, has not been shown to positively influence satisfaction. The fact that bidirectional violence is prevalent implies the need to better understand this form of violence, as well as the lack of repercussions on satisfaction with the intimate relationship, despite the high presence of violence, makes it urgent to understand what seems to figure as a naturalization of violence in intimate relationships. Considerations on implications and future studies are contemplated.en
