Resumo
Esta dissertação assenta num estudo da programação do Festival Internacional de Teatro MINDELACT entre 2002 e 2012, procurando entender as estratégias seguidas na programação ao longo desta década. Emerge daqui a pertinência em encontrar factores explicativos da dimensão, sustentabilidade e longevidade deste festival. Impunha-se realizar um trabalho que levasse a entender bem a sociedade cabo-verdiana, em especial a cidade do Mindelo e o seu modo de estar no meio artístico, e nomeadamente nas artes cénicas. Para melhor conhecimento desta realidade foram efectuadas entrevistas em profundidade a pessoas com ligação pertinente ao festival MINDELACT. Na programação deste destacam-se indicadores como a diversidade cultural, a internacionalização, dramaturgias resultantes de obras literárias cabo-verdianas e “apropriações” de obras de dramaturgos universais realizadas pelo encenador e programador do festival. É patente o envolvimento da população mindelense neste evento cultural. A troca de experiências entre as companhias que integram a programação oriundas até à data de 26 países diferentes faz da cidade do Mindelo um ponto de encontro multicultural. O reconhecimento deste evento cultural é manifestado pelas entidades públicas como o Ministério da Cultura e Câmaras Municipais e, pelas entidades privadas, havendo um sentimento profundo do que é Responsabilidade Social.
This dissertation is based on the study of the MINDELACT Internacional Theatre Festival programming between 2002 and 2012, which envisaged the understanding of the programming strategies followed during this decade. Finding the explanatory factors of the festival dimension, sustainability and longevity became a relevant requirement, and a good understanding of the capeverdian society, in particular in the Mindelo city, and their involvement in arts, namely in scenic arts, was seen as necessary. In order to attain this understanding, in-depth interviews have been made to individuals with a pertaining involvement with MINDELACT festival. The festival programming highlights features such as cultural diversity, internationalization, as well as dramaturgies resulting from both capeverdian literature and “appropriations” of universal dramaturgy works achieved by the festival artistic director. The involvement of the Mindelo population in this cultural event has been found evident. The exchange of experiences between the theatre groups integrating the festival programming, coming from 26 different countries, to date, makes Mindelo a multicultural meeting point. The relevance of the festival is recognized both by public entities like the Ministry of Culture and local authorities, and by private organizations, with a deep conscience of what social responsibility is.
