O estado emocional do
Chemical dependency continues to be an issue of concern in society, as it leads many to a human scourge. There have been several attempts to provide an effective response, not only for the treatment, but also what most concerns subsequently to the abstinence, the relapse, because the success rate is very low, and the recurrence very high. The emotional status of the chemical-dependent is quite affected by consumption so, the present work is proposed to study the happiness in the context of chemical dependency, including hedonic happiness, eudaimonic happiness and subjective happiness. The study was conducted on a sample of 186 subjects, of which 79 have been included in the normal group, 69 in the dependents’ group and 38 in the former dependents’ group. For the assessment of the hedonic happiness, The Positive and Negative Experiences Scale was applied, which assesses the subjective experience of feelings of well-being and malaise; for the eudamonic happiness, The Flursciment Scale was applied, in order to assess the descriptive properties of eudaimony; for the assessment of subjective happiness the instrument employed was the Subjective Happiness Scale. The outcome suggests that, in former dependent individuals, the most significant values were found in the Eudamonic Happiness and Subjective Happiness levels.
