Reabilitação do património: Castelo de S. Jorge: do estado novo à actualidade

Abstract

O tema central da dissertação é a reabilitação do património arquitectónico, nomeadamente aferir a evolução do conceito de reabilitação ao longo dos tempos. O objectivo é analisar as várias intervenções e transformações arquitectónicas que foram sendo efectuadas ao longo dos anos ao Castelo de S. Jorge, desde o „Estado Novo‟ até à actualidade, verificando se foram aplicados os conceitos de restauro em vigor. Num mundo cada vez mais global que vai perdendo a sua individualidade e identidade, a reabilitação e conservação do património é de extrema importância pois intervém directamente na manutenção e fixação de aspectos memoriais e identitários, não só de uma civilização mas de toda a Humanidade. Se este património cultural não for preservado como é que as gerações futuras o podem apreender como sendo delas? Daí que as políticas urbanísticas e arquitectónicas vão no sentido de intervir nos espaços arquitectónicos, conservando e valorizando o património aí existente de modo a torná-los espaços requalificados e funcionais, numa constante adaptação aos tempos, assegurando a sua relação com o meio envolvente e a sua consequente subsistência enquanto valor patrimonial. Mas que metodologia/conceito se deve utilizar na reabilitação/requalificação de um objecto arquitectónico histórico?

The aim of the thesis is the rehabilitation of the architectural heritage, emphasizing the evolution of the concept of rehabilitation over time. The object of analysis is the São Jorge Castle, in Lisbon, threw the several interventions and architectural transformations that have been made over the years since the „Estado Novo‟ until the present date as well as checking if the restoration concepts in force were applied. In an increasingly global world that is losing its individuality and identity, the rehabilitation and conversation of the architectural heritage is of utmost importance, for it is directly involved in maintaining and fixing memory and identity not only for a civilization but for all mankind. If this cultural heritage has not been preserved as is, that future generations can learn to be one? This means that the architectural and urban planning policies must be directed towards intervening in architectural spaces by preserving and enhancing the heritage that exists there in order to make them functional spaces, in a constantly adaptation to the times but ensuring its relationship with the environment and its consequent subsistence and value. But which concept/methodology should be used in the rehabilitation/upgrading of an architectural history object?
