Inteligência emocional e burnout na prática dos assistentes sociais

Resumo
A inteligência emocional (IE) e o burnout, são conceitos que têm sido bastantes estudados individualmente e entre si, porém são escassos os estudos que relacionam com o serviço social. Nesse sentido, o seguinte trabalho, tem como objetivo compreender a importância da IE na prática profissional dos assistentes sociais e, relacionar com os níveis de burnout. Foi aplicada uma metodologia mista, e a amostra foi recolhida através do método “Bola de neve”, obtendo um total de sessenta e um participantes, através da realização de um questionário de respostas abertas e fechadas pelo Google Forms a assistentes sociais de diversas áreas. Os resultados foram analisados através do programa IBM® SPSS® e, embora as correlações não tenham revelado relações estatisticamente significativas, foi possível concluir uma correlação negativa entre IE e burnout, refletindo que quanto mais baixos os níveis de IE, maior os níveis de burnout. Foi ainda observado uma correlação negativa entre o burnout e os anos de experiência de profissão, evidenciando que, quantos mais anos de atividade profissional, menos probabilidade de atingir níveis de burnout e, por fim, verificou-se uma correlação positiva entre IE emocional e os anos de experiência profissional, constatando quanto mais anos de prática profissional, mais altos os níveis de IE. A relação entre IE e serviço social é profunda e multifacetada.
Emotional intelligence and burnout are concepts that have been studied individually and in relation to each other, but there are few studies relating them to social work. The aim of this study is to understand the importance of emotional intelligence in the professional practice of social workers and to relate it to levels of burnout. A mixed methodology was applied, and the sample was collected using the "snowball" method, obtaining a total of sixty-one participants by carrying out a questionnaire with open and closed answers using Google Forms with social workers from different areas. The results were analyzed using the IBM® SPSS® program, and although the correlations did not reveal statistically significant relationships, it was possible to conclude a negative correlation between emotional intelligence and burnout, reflecting that the lower the levels of emotional intelligence, the higher the levels of burnout. There was also a negative correlation between burnout and years of professional experience, showing that the more years of professional activity, the less likely it is to suffer from burnout. Finally, there was a positive correlation between emotional intelligence and years of professional experience, showing that the more years of professional practice, the higher the levels of emotional intelligence.
