This research has the objective to rate the emotional adjustment among the population of professional musicians and of the students of music and to establish a correlation with their traces of personality. The personality has been valuated from the Five Big Factors Inventory (BFI) of John,Donahue & Kentle (1991). The emotional adjustment has been measured by the Scales of Anxiety, Depression and Stress (EADS) of Pais-Ribeiro, Honrado & Leal (2004). At the same time, has been employed the test of Stress and Anxiety among musicians (SAM), wich has been brought forward by Tacanho & Rosa (2012), specialy adapted to one more peculiar dimension. The pattern was constituted by 106 subjects (49 students of music and by 57 professional musicians) with an average age of 22 and 39 years, respectively. By gender, the group of students included 30 men and 19 women, while the professional musicians were 45 men and 12 women. The SAM scale presented an excellent internal consistency (a = .90). The obtained results point out to a significant direct association between anxiety and the traces of personality, mainly between neuroticism, anxiety and anxiety of performance, being this association stronger among the students of music than among the professional musicians.
