conveniência, composta por 296 sujeitos, todos utilizadores do Facebool, 123 participantes do
sexo masculino e 173 do sexo feminino.
The present investigation had as main goal to understand how self-esteem, personality traits and dependency of the social network called Facebook (FB) interact and influence each other. A convenience sample was used, built by two hundred and ninety six (296) individuals, all of which are active FB users. One hundred and twenty three (123) are male and the other one hundred and seventy three (173) are female. The age average stands by 25,61 (DP=4,11), given that the age gap of the individuals had to be between eighteen (18) and thirty five (35) years of age. An investigation protocol was set up, built by a socialdemographic and FB usage questionnaire plus three (3) units of assessment measures: Rosenberg's self-esteem scale, the NEO-FFI and the Thadani and Cheung Model. The results have shown that individuals with less FB dependency have a greater self-esteem index. Individuals who are more open to the experiment have shown various results when it comes to dedicated time to FB and those who have many FB connections appear to have a greater extroversion index but on the other hand, a lesser self-esteem one.
