| dc.description.abstract | O presente estudo tem como objetivo compreender a integração de imigrantes brasileiras idosas na sociedade portuguesa considerando o modo como as redes de suporte formal e informal promovem essa integração. No quadro desta análise foi ponderada a questão do género (especificamente o feminino), tema indissociável do binómio envelhecimento-migrações. No que toca ao envelhecimento dos imigrantes, importa referir que esta é uma realidade com a qual os países recetores mais antigos já convivem há bastantes anos e que em Portugal surge como fenómeno novo e, naturalmente, suscetível de investigação. A nossa análise incidiu em autores e marcos teóricos que apresentaram estudos sobre o universo do envelhecimento, das migrações e do género. A metodologia adotada foi a qualitativa baseada em estudo de casos. As entrevistas foram do tipo semidirigida sendo a técnica que melhor serviu este propósito. O acesso à população efetuou-se através da técnica de amostragem por acessibilidade ou por conveniência. Os resultados do estudo ilustram os percursos de várias mulheres brasileiras idosas a residir em Portugal e as estratégias de integração tendo em conta as redes de apoio formal e informal. Concluímos que os processos de integração destas mulheres, sobretudo ao longo das suas carreiras profissionais, se dão em grande parte por iniciativas pessoais, tendo as redes de suporte informal, família e amigos, um papel relevante nesse processo. Apesar de existir um importante e vasto acervo de estudos sobre o universo das migrações, foi possível concluir que o tema dos imigrantes idosos no geral e das mulheres imigrantes em particular parece não ter recebido ainda a atenção merecida por parte da investigação. | pt |
| dc.description.abstract | The present study aims to understand the integration of elderly Brazilian women immigrants in the Portuguese society considering how formal and informal support networks promote this integration. In the context of this analysis it will be taken into account the gender question (specifically the female gender) which is inseparable from the relationship between aging and migrations. When it comes to aging immigrants, it should be noted that this is a reality which older receiving countries deal with for many years now and that in Portugal this emerges as a new phenomenon and, of course, likely to be researched. Our analysis focused on authors and theorists who presented studies on the universes of aging, migration and gender. The methodology adopted was based on qualitative case studies. The interviews were of the semi-structured type seen as the technique that best served this purpose. The access to the population was carried out by the sampling technique of snowball type. The access to the population carried out by the accessibility or convenience sampling technique. The results of the study illustrate the routes of various elderly Brazilian women that reside in Portugal and the integration strategies taking into account the formal and informal support networks. We found that the processes of integration of these women, especially throughout their professional careers, were largely by personal initiatives, and that informal support networks, family and friends, played an important role in this process. Although there is an important and extensive collection of studies on the universe of migrations, it was possible to conclude that the issue of elderly immigrants in general and of migrant women in particular appears not to have received the deserved attention by researchers. | en |
