construto (análise fatorial exploratória e validade convergente) e a fiabilidade (consistência
The present study aims to adapt the Group Identification Scale (GIS), an instrument that assesses the connection between groups, for the fraternal context in a population of Portuguese young emerging adults, presenting their initial psychometric studies. It is intended to study its psychometric properties, specifically the construct validity (exploratory factor analysis and convergent validity) and reliability (internal consistency and inter-item mean correlations). To this end, we used a sample of 337 emerging Portuguese adults aged between 18 and 30 years old, who completed a sociodemographic data questionnaire, the EIG, the Fratria Relations Inventory (FRI) and the Dyadic Trust Scale (DTS). The results from the exploratory factor analysis indicated a 3-factor structure, consistent with the theoretical model of the original GIS studies, with very satisfactory levels of internal consistency and convergent validity. Therefore, the GIS can be constituted as an instrument for evaluating the connection within fraternal relationships of Portuguese young emerging adults, discussing the implications of these results for practice.
