At the end of 2019, after the first cases of Covid-19 disease were detected, the world was faced with one of the biggest pandemics of the 21st century. Despite countries having tried to develop public policies to combat the spread of the virus, populations were faced with numerous vulnerabilities in various areas, such as health, economy, education, housing, access to basic services, among others. To face these, many third sector institutions were forced to reorganize and create new social responses to suppress these needs. The present dissertation therefore intended to know the perceptions of social intervention professionals about the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the Movimento de Apoio à Problemática da Sida (MAPS), one of the largest Private Social Solidarity Institutions in the region Algarve, based on focus group interviews with eight social workers. Poor health, the inability to access health services and the consequent lack of support at all levels, caused an increase in demand for the services provided by MAPS, giving rise to the need to restructure its responses to be able to mitigate situations of poverty resulting from unemployment and low incomes that many users and households were faced with during the Covid-19 pandemic. Keywords: Perceptions, Covid-19, Social Intervention, Third Sector Organizations
