| dc.description.abstract | A presente dissertação, integrada no Mestrado em Estudos Cinematográficos da Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Tecnologias, é uma dissertação teórico-prática por projecto que lança as bases para a criação do Worldbuilding e transmediação de um conjunto de narrativas intituladas “Chronicles of the Earth and the Sea”. As crónicas integram o género da Ficção Especulativa que contém os géneros do Fantástico, da Ficção Científica e do Horror. É uma espécie de género ‘chapéu’ agregador dos géneros acima citados e seus subgéneros. Para estruturar a narrativa das crónicas recorreu-se a estruturas experimentadas e validadas pela indústria literária e cinematográfica – o ‘Monomito’ de Campbell, ‘A Viagem do Herói’ de Vogler e ‘O Paradigma’ de Field. O scriptment (sinopse longa formatada como um guião) foi o formato cinematográfico seleccionado para a escrita das crónicas. Este permitiu criar o conjunto de narrativas que integram o Universo Expandido das “Chronicles of the Earth and the Sea”. Depois de escolhida uma das narrativas – a do protagonista Uluru-Kata – esta foi trabalhada e aprofundada nesta dissertação. O objectivo principal é utilizar as crónicas para explorar temas e assuntos diversos de interesse pessoal e, pelo caminho, criar um produto de entretenimento e catarse. A Banda Desenhada desenvolvida para esta dissertação adapta uma pequena parte do Worldbuilding das crónicas focando-se numa lição que Uluru-Kata recebe quando criança e serve de ‘prova de conceito’ para a futura transmediação da narrativa. A transmediação das crónicas aqui planificada irá desenvolver-se ao longo dos próximos anos através da fragmentação das várias narrativas por diferentes plataformas. A planificação divide-se em três fases: a primeira incide sobre Literatura Gráfica (BD), a segunda sobre Literatura e a terceira sobre a componente audiovisual (Cinema, TV e Videojogos). | pt |
| dc.description.abstract | This dissertation, integrated in the Master Degree on Cinema Studies, of the Lusophone University of Humanities and Technologies, is a theoretical-practice dissertation by project that launches the basis for the creation of the Worldbuilding and Transmedia Storytelling strategy for the narrative “Chronicles of the Earth and the Sea”. The chronicles belong to the Speculative Fiction genre wich contains the genres of Fantasy, Science Fiction and Horror. It’s a kind of umbrella genre that contains the genres mentioned above and its subgenres. In order to structure the chronicles’ narrative we used validated structures by the literary and film industry – the ‘Monomith’ of Campbell, the ‘Hero’s Journey’ of Vogler, and ‘The Paradigm’ of Field. The scriptment (long synopsis edited like a script) was the selected cinematographic format for the writing of the chronicles. This format enabled the creation of the several narratives that belong to the Expanded Universe of the “Chronicles of the Earth and the Sea”. After selecting one of the several narratives of the Expanded Universe of the chronicles – the one about the protagonist Uluru-Kata – this text was developed as the main story for this dissertation. The goal is to use the chronicles to explore themes and issues of personal interest for the creator, and, in the long run, to create a product of entertainment and catharsis. The Comic created for this dissertation adapts a small part of the Worldbuilding of the chronicles focusing on a lesson that Uluru-Kata receives when he is a child and serves as a ‘proof of concept’ for the future transmediation of the narrative. The Transmedia Storytelling strategy for the chronicles will be developed in the next few years through the fragmentation of the several narratives into several platforms. The strategy is divided in three phases: the first on Comics, the second on Literature, and the third on Audiovisual (Cinema, TV and Videogames). | en |
